Materials:
65 yards of bulky weight yarn
Less than 1 ball of (crochet.com Chroma Twist Vermont used here)
4.5 mm Crochet hook
Gauge: 4” = 21 stitches, 13 rows
Notes:
Nup stitch: double crochet together but in the same stitch
*YO insert yarn into st, pull up a loop, YO pull through 2 loops on hook* repeat ** 2 times in same st, YO pull through all 3 loops on hook
This is a one size pattern as it has enough stretch to fit most heads
If needed to size up or down, do so by adding multiples of 4 to the first row of ch
Row 1: ch 81, slst to first st, turn (81)
Row 2: ch 1, sc in each ch, slst to first st, turn (81)
Row 3: ch1, sc in blo, *nup st in blo, sc in blo 3* repeat ** 19 times, nup st in blo, sc 2, slst to first st, turn (81)
Row 4: ch1, sc in blo of each st, slst to first st, turn (81)
Row 5: ch1, *sc in blo 3, nup st in blo* repeat ** 20 times, slst to first st, turn (81)
Row 6-9: repeat rows 2-5 (81)
Row 10: ch1, sc in flo of each st, slst to first st (81)
Finish off. Weave in ends.
For a thicker headband repeat pattern but end on a row 10 after a row 5 for a consistent pattern and straight edge.
Here are the extra ones I have made so far, I will update this a few times so you can see different yarns, widths and colors.
This white one only uses rows 1-5 then row 10.
This denim blue one uses repeats an extra, going up to 13 rows before doing the finishing (row 10).
